Employment Agency or Recruitment Agency!
Which of the Two to Engage in Africa
(Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo
(DRC), Nigeria, South Africa and South Sudan)?
An employment agency is a company, firm or agency that connects employers and job seekers. The main objective of an employment agency is to therefore to create employment opportunities for both employee and employer with employee getting a job opportunity and employer getting a talent opportunity.
An employment agency can do its work at the behest of the candidate or job seeker or at the behest of the employer.
In
the strict sense of it, an employment agency that works at the behest
of the employer is called a recruitment firm or agency while an
employment agency working at the behest of the job seeker is called a
placement agency. But in general terms both are serving the same
purpose for the economy, namely employment.
Both types of agencies are beneficial in largely the same way to the labour market.
- They connect employees and employers
- They provide information on the demand and supply sides of the job market. On demand side they provide information on employers with job vacancies while on supply side they provide information on the people looking for jobs
- They provide a professional service to both employee and employer in a manner none is better suited to provide on her own.
