CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO) FOR A MEDIUM-SIZED CONGLOMERATE BUSINESS

Background Information

Our client is a conglomerate business with interests in office furniture, office equipment leasing and asset financing. The company plans to expand its business portfolio to retail lending starting with credit products targeting employed persons in partnership with employers.

The Job

The COO, a crucial member of the senior management team and reporting   to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead a team of general managers each responsible for one of the business units of the conglomerate. He/ She shall manage and control diverse business operations and functions.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES;

  1. Oversee the design, plan and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
  2. Lea the strategic planning for the conglomerate and set comprehensive goals foreach business and monitor its growth and success
  3. Establish policies and procedures that promote sound culture and vision for the group and for each business unit
  4. Oversee daily operations and the work of general managers
  5. Develop a sound business metrics system to continuously collect, analyze, interpret and make informed decisions mased on the data and metrics
  6. Create strategic reports for the management CEO
  7. Make routine decisions
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

The job holder should have the following qualifications:

  1. Masters or Degree in Business Administration, Finance or similar relevant field
  2. Previous working experience as COO
  3. In-depth knowledge of different business functions such as HR, Finance, marketing etc.
  4. At least 8 years’ experience in senior management

  2. Hands on experience in fundraising, strategic planning and business development
  3. Good sound knowledge of data analysis and KPIs
  4. Experience developing sound IT/Business infrastructure
  5. Outstanding organizational skills and able to design strategy founded corporate structures for different industries
  6. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  7. Great communication and presentation skills
  8. Problem-solving mindset
