Our Client is an international group of companies dealing with a wide range of agricultural products like fertilizers, veterinary drugs, animal feeds etc.
The client is soon starting operations in Tanzania and is therefore recruiting key staff.
The logistics officer will be responsible for efficient clearing if imported products and efficient distribution to end user points.
The main duties of the Associate are;
i. Administrating freight pick-up process as required;
ii. Performing overage, shortage and damage functions as required;
iii. Complying with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures;
iv. Communicating with sales and operations;
v. Assisting customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and/or status and respond to billing questions;
vi. Performing administrative functions, including but not limited to;
vii. Calculating and processing duties and taxes to be paid;
viii. Arranging for payment of taxes and duties;
ix. Liaising with Customers;
x. Allocating the correct license depending on type of goods being imported;
xi. Attending meetings with Customs Officials in the application of duty refunds and tariff reclassification as appropriate and assisting with any appeals those are forthcoming;
xii. Knowing import and export laws and regulations;
xiii. Preparing the necessary import documentation
xiv. Liaising with officials in various agencies to ensure goods are cleared
xv. Liaising with clearing agents
xvi. Verifying and completing required documentation and reports,
i. Utilizing various transportation provider
ii. Preparing and updating monthly logistics, schedule
iii. Coordinating daily activity Ensuring inventory accuracy
iv. Organizing and maintaining hard copy and electronic documentation
v. Initiating overcharge/undercharge freight bill claims
vi. Ensuring accuracy of physical inventory order sequence
vii. Verifying accuracy of physical inventory
viii. Assisting in the administration of supply agreements
ix. Coordinating with operating department
x. Supporting the development, implementation, and execution
xi. Verifying inventory locations and availability for shipment
xii. Reviewing inventory
xiii. Working with supervisor
xiv. Ensuring that goods are shipped
The job holder should be a Tanzania national with the following qualifications:
i. A Degree in a Business Field. A Degree in Shipping or Logistics will be an added advantage
ii. Have at least five years of experience in Clearing and Logistics with well established shipping and logistics companies in Tanzania for at least 5 years.
The job holder should posses the following skills and competences
a) Good understanding of the shipping and logistics Industry in Tanzania
b) Excellent oral communication skills in both spoken English and Swahili
c) Have good understanding of the business climate in Tanzania
d) Must have good understanding of Tanzania Shipping and logistics laws and regulations
e) Good understanding of international Shipping industry
