Job Purpose: The Advocacy Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting Transform Alliance Africa (TAA) to accelerate care reform efforts in Africa, eliminating institutional care, promoting family-based care, and family strengthening across the continent. This position merges advocacy, communications, and administrative responsibilities to strengthen TAA’s impact through coordination, capacity-building, and strategic initiatives. The officer will lead key efforts, including supporting grassroots advocacy, digital campaigns, and collaborative projects, while working closely with TAA member organisations, the Steering Committee, the Coordination team, and other stakeholders to achieve an Africa free of orphanages.

Advocacy Support
- Support the development and implementation of TAA’s advocacy strategy, focusing on care reform across Africa.
- Maintain a database of key advocacy contacts and ensure regular communication with those contacts.
- Maintain a database of relevant national, continental, and global policies on care reform and ensure these policies are effectively applied to TAA’s work.
- Provide clarity on annual advocacy progress, identifying key milestones and advancing TAA’s strategic goals.
- Collaborate with TAA partners to support them in the development of key care reform policies and regulatory frameworks in their countries.
- Lead the development of a youth advocacy toolkit to empower young people to participate in care reform efforts.
- Design and launch a participatory podcast to amplify grassroots voices and perspectives on care reform issues.
- Facilitate learning and sharing of evidence and existing models of care reform internally and externally.
- Build the advocacy capacity (knowledge and skills) of partners to effectively advocate at national, regional and global level.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Organise and facilitate quarterly Steering Committee and Coordination meetings
- Develop and maintain a calendar of key advocacy activities, ensuring alignment with TAA’s overarching strategy.
- Organise and provide logistical support for in-person and virtual events, including training sessions, capacity-building webinars, and meetings.
- Facilitate communication, interaction, and information sharing between partners and other stakeholders.
- Manage TAA recruitment and membership processes including targeted recruitment of members to build a critical mass capable of influencing care reform across the region.
- Attend and represent TAA in various regional and global advocacy platforms and forums.
Digital and Communications Support
- Support TAA’s digital presence by regularly updating the website and managing social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
- Develop and execute a communication and social media strategy to engage stakeholders and amplify advocacy efforts.
- Write press releases and coordinate communication materials to promote TAA’s objectives and activities.
- Collaborate with partners to collect stories and develop key messages for advocacy and awareness-raising purposes.
Project Management and Reporting
- Lead and deliver TAA’s contributions to the Rooted Futures Collective, ensuring the work plan is executed effectively and reporting progress to stakeholders.
- Write monthly updates, quarterly reports, and annual reports to document progress, achievements, and lessons learned across the Alliance.
- Monitor and evaluate advocacy activities to ensure alignment with TAA’s strategic goals.
Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building
- Foster strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations and networks to amplify TAA’s advocacy efforts.
- Develop tailored capacity-building programs to strengthen the advocacy and operational capabilities of member organisations.
- Actively engage with regional and international advocacy coalitions to ensure alignment and synergy in advancing care reform.
Project Management and Reporting
