Our client a well-established safari tour company currently operating in Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya is looking for an HR Officer to be based in their offices in Kenya.

The HR Officer will be responsible for various administrative tasks, maintaining employee records, and helping with recruitment and payroll processes.

Key Deliverables

  1.  Timely and qualified recruitment process- i.e advertising, longlisting, shortlisting, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks 
  2. Staff Onboarding – ensure a smooth onboarding process for all new staff 
  3. Frequent Updating of the HR details within the HR system 
  4. Assist in creating policies, procedures, process maps and documents 
  5. Provide relevant data for payroll processing and ensure all payroll errors are resolved 
  6. Update of staff data in soft and hard copy 
  7. Contract management – ensure all staff contracts are correct and are up to date 
  8. Assist in ensuring Health and Safety laws and regulations are adhered to by the company and all teams 
  9.  Ensure attendance and leave records are up to date 
  10. Assist with maintenance of the office with attention to security, cleanliness, and general maintenance 
  11.  Prepare management meeting minutes & agendas and store them appropriately 
  12. Handle day-to-day HR Operations with guidance. 
  13. Record-Keeping- maintenance of company documents, staff records, disciplinary hearings, and all management communications 
  14. Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner 

Professional Qualifications

Industry Qualification
Human Resource Management Certified Human Resource Professional qualification (CHRP) is an added advantage

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in the same role 
  • Must be conversant with at least one HR Software. 
  • Knowledge of Uganda labor law is an added advantage 

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies. 

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint for reporting HR Data 
  • Knowledge of labor laws and government regulations that concern workplaces and employment matters 
  • Thorough understanding of human resource practices and industry trends 
  • Ability to manage deadlines 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Highly motivated individual 
  • Flexibility – be open to change and new information; rapidly adapt to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
